Chinatown

When walking around the city centre it could be that you end up in the middle of Chinatown. Behind the Chinese gates you can sample the atmosphere of Asianrestaurants, little shops (tokos), supermarkets, but you will also come across acupuncturists and furniture shops: a mix of Chinese, Japanese and Indonesian culture.

Walk through the symbolic entrance gates to the Wagenstraat (next to the Bijenkorf) and seek out these typical Chinese shops, specialties and exotic products. Maybe you get there in the middle of a Chinese Culture day, such as Chinese New Year.

The area stretches from the Amsterdamse Veerkade, the Wagenstraat up to the Gedempte Burgwal.
